➕ Does it work on Android phones bought outside Japan?
No. Most global Android devices lack the specialized Osaifu-Keitai (FeliCa) chip required by Japanese transit gates. Use a physical Welcome Suica card instead.
➕ Does it require internet data to pass through ticket gates?
No. The FeliCa chip communicates natively with the ticket turnstile using passive induction. It works even if your phone has zero cellular signal or is in Airplane Mode.
➕ Can I get a refund of my digital Suica balance?
No. Digital Suica balances and Welcome Suica tourist cards are non-refundable. Only standard physical cards can be returned to JR East ticket offices for refunds.
➕ How do I trigger the card to work without FaceID?
Make sure 'Express Transit Card' is toggled ON under settings for your Suica card in the Wallet app. This lets you tap the gates directly without unlocking your screen.
➕ Can I share a single Suica card with my partner?
No. Turnstiles require tracking of individual entry and exit taps. Every traveler must have their own separate card.
