Never get caught in a sudden Tokyo downpour. Setup and use Japan's QR-based sharing service.

iKasa QR App Setup

Download the iKasa app from the App Store or Google Play.
Register an account and add a payment method (supports Credit Card, LINE Pay, or Apple Pay).
Locate an umbrella stand (found in most train stations, convenience stores, and commercial complexes).

Renting & Returning Protocol

Renting: Open the iKasa app, tap "Rent", and scan the QR code located on the umbrella stand. The lock will release automatically.

Returning: Take the umbrella to any iKasa stand in the city. Scan the return QR code on the stand, slide the umbrella handle back into the slot, and confirm the return in the app.

Pricing Caps

Renting costs ¥140 per 24 hours. If you keep the umbrella, charges scale up to a maximum cap of ¥560 per month, making it cheaper than buying disposable plastic umbrellas.
